She was born Aug. 3, 1946, in Rochester, to Harry and Martha Dunsizer Norman. In June 1962 she married Emmitt Messer, who died Oct. 1, 1982.
She had worked for several different places including Akron Elementary School, Da-Lite Screen and Peabody Retirement Community. She was a graduate of Aubbeenaubbee High School. She enjoyed her grandkids, mushroom hunting and fishing.
Surviving are four sons: Bob (and spouse Lisa) Messer, Akron; Michael Messer, North Manchester; David Messer, Pierceton; Norman (and spouse Karen) Messer, Ashburn, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Ousley; and two brothers, Bob and Dee Norman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Danny Honeycutt officiating. Burial is in Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
