MERRILLVILLE – NIPSCO is alerting customers of an increase in bill payment scams.
Most commonly, impersonators claiming to be NIPSCO employees are calling to inform customers of a delinquent bill and requesting that immediate payment be made to avoid being shut off, according to a release from the utility.
If customers are unsure about the legitimacy of any e-mail, phone call, program or offer claiming to be affiliated with NIPSCO, they can call NIPSCO at 800-464-7726.
NIPSCO reminds customers who are uncertain of their current account status that they can check the information printed on their recent billing statement, call NIPSCO to speak directly with a customer service representative or register and view their bill on NIPSCO’s secure website.[[In-content Ad]]
