HOLT, Mich. - One week after finding out the ABC television show "Extreme Home Makeover" chose her, Arlene Nickless will get her first look at a new home.

Nickless' son, Terry Engstrand, a police officer in Mentone, said the show sent his mom and three younger brothers to Disney World in Orlando while crews work on the home.

"It was amazing. In less than 30 hours they had the home demolished and the new home framed with a full basement and a garage," said Engstrand.

Nickless and her three sons get back from Orlando Thursday.

Nickless and her family will see their new home for the first time Friday at 2 p.m.

Engstrand and his famiily plan to be in Holt, Mich., where Nickless lives, for the big reveal.

Engstrand said the show's producers plan to air the show in mid-November.

Nickless is formerly from Warsaw. Nickless also has a daughter, Aubrey Sponseller, who lives in the area.

Nickless lost her husband, Tim, on Jan. 19 after a seven-year battle with Hepatitis C. Tim contracted the disease while he worked as a nurse at Ingham Medical Center in Michigan. That was the same hospital Arlene worked at as a patient care nurse.

Nickless' mother wrote a letter to "Extreme Home Makeover" and Nickless eventually was chosen.[[In-content Ad]]
