South Whitley fifth-graders got to experience what it takes to plan a trip across the ocean in the Niña, Piñta or Santa Maria. 

As a crew with a "math leader," they used multiplication and reasoning skills to decide what quantity of each necessity would be needed without sinking their ships. 

Thanks to the help of youth librarian Abby Harris-Correll from the South Whitley Public Library, the fifth-graders have a new appreciation for the early explorers of North America.[[In-content Ad]]
