My name is Robert Hutchison. I am a retired hospital administrator with more than 30 years of hospital administrator experience with St. Anthony Hospital, a 200-bed hospital in Chicago, Illinois; and with the Suburban Cook County of Illinois Tuberculosis Sanitarium District.

It is my understanding that Jerold (Jerry) Nelson is seeking the office of councilman with the Town Council of Winona Lake, Indiana. I would like to write this letter of recommendation for Jerry because I am confident he would fill this position in a competent manner and be a credit and asset to Winona Lake, Indiana.

During my 30 years as a hospital administrator I had the good fortune to work with many outstanding administrative women and men. By far, Jerry is in the top ten percent of this group.

Jerry began his career at St. Anthony Hospital as Director of Plant Operations while he pursued his law degree at Kent College of Law. He joined our team at St. Anthony's having already attained a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Michigan Tech and an M.B.A. from Indiana State University.

While serving as Associate Administrator, Jerry participated in community relations and served as the voice of the hospital in many situations, including media interaction and city/state government. He was in charge of a thirteen million dollar renovation and new construction project that included the renovation of 50 hospital rooms, the Emergency Room, the Obstetrics Unit and the construction of the new Intensive Care and Coronary Care units.

After 15 years at St. Anthony's, Jerry moved from the position of Administrator, he had achieved there, to the position of Director of Administrative and Professional Services at the Chicago Hospital Council which represents all hospitals in Chicago. Later he served as Chief Executive Officer at Martha Washington Hospital in Chicago. Eventually, as time for family dwindled, Jerry turned from career-building choices to career-enjoying choices combined with real estate ventures.

I hope this letter serves the purpose of presenting a thumbnail sketch of a true leader.
