Bea, his wife of more than 50 years, died in 2000.
He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving for 6-1/2 years, during which time he was a prisoner of war for more than 3-1/2 years. He was an Indiana University graduate. He retired from General Electric and was a member of Appalachian Trail Club.
Surviving are two sons, Alan (and spouse Debbie) Rider, Mount Auburn, Ill., and Eric B. (and spouse Trish) Rider, Baton Rouge, La.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five siblings: Norma Roose and Albert Jr. "Bugs" (and spouse Alice) Rider, all of North Webster; Arden (and spouse Esther) Rider, Pierceton; Joy (and spouse Jim) Anderson, Jeffersonville; and Bobby (and spouse Melinda) Rider, Augusta, Ga. He was preceded in death by a brother.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at North Webster United Methodist Church.
Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1801 N. Monroe St., Decatur, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
