July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

WINONA LAKE – Steven Fuchs, an Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veteran and Navy fighter pilot, will be the featured speaker at this year’s Tracey Yeager Memorial 5K Memorial Day Run/Walk in Winona Lake.
Now in its fifth year, the run established in honor of resident Tracey Yeager, who lost her life to cancer in 2010, continues a custom of tribute to U.S. military veterans from the World War II and Vietnam War conflicts through today. The pre-race presentation will begin at 9 a.m. May 30 in Winona Lake Park and is free and open to the public.
Veterans who wish to participate in the family-friendly 5K may register at no cost, say event organizers. Volunteers and past or present clients of Fellowship Missions also race free of charge.
Otherwise, advance registration for individuals is $20, or $60 for a family of four or more. Register online at www.tym5k.com or on-site starting at 7:45 a.m. the day of the race.
Also at this year’s event, Fellowship Missions Homeless Shelter will collect new or gently-used athletic shoes and new socks during their first “Soles for Souls” shoe and sock drive. Donations may be taken to the Fellowship Missions tent at Winona Lake Park on the day of the race. Participating race sponsors, including SYM Financial at 801 Park Ave., also are accepting shoe and sock donations throughout May.
For more information on the TYM5K, call Elle Turley at 574-371-1723.
