Nash, Gooding Elected To Wayne Township Board, Winona Council

Gordon Nash will serve on the Wayne Township Advisory Board. He will replace Kyle Babcock, who resigned his position in order to serve on the Warsaw City Council.
Sue Gooding will take the District 4 seat on the Winona Lake Town Council. She will replace Dave Delp, who resigned from the council.[[In-content Ad]]The members were elected during a caucus held by the Republican Central Committee in the Old Court Room of the Kosciusko County Courthouse.
The positions will be effective as of the board's and council's next meetings.
There were five candidates who filed for the Wayne Township Board, including Letrecia Brown, Jerry Clevenger, Gerald Hogan, Jerry Nelson and Nash.
There were two candidates who filed for the Winona Lake Town Council District 4 seat, including Gooding and Paul Heaton.
Each candidate had an opportunity to speak about why they were seeking office. There were three Winona Lake precinct committee members and 11 Wayne Township precinct committee members who voted.
"We had quality candidates for both the board and town, and I feel both candidates who were elected are well-qualified," Republican Central Committee Chairman Aaron Rovenstine said.
Nash, 45, who will serve in public office for the first time, said he is looking forward to serving on the board.
He previously served 10 years as a volunteer firefighter for the Warsaw Volunteer Fire Department. He has worked for the past 22 years for the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department in jail and corrections security and currently provides court security.
Nash is married to Lela Nash and they have a daughter, Lacey, and a son, Lucas.
Nash will join Wayne Township Advisory Board members Nanette Newland and Mike Reed.
Gooding, 45, who has lived in Winona Lake for the past 10 years said this is her first time for holding public office.
Gooding owns Pizza Supply of Indiana with her husband William and they have two daughters, Gabriella and Alexis.
"I'm excited to be part of serving a town where I live and have seen growth," Gooding said.
She said she is well-read on the town's issues and concerns. She said she will be a councilwoman who will listen and learn.
Gooding will join Winona Lake Town Council members President Joy Lohse, Jeff Carroll, James Lancaster and Terry Howie.
