She was born Jan. 17, 1940, in Gary, to Peter Matthew and Lydia May Conoway Pavlik. On June 16, 1961, she married Harry M. Bonner, who died Jan. 19, 2003.
She graduated from Toleston High School. She moved to Sawmill Lake from Lake Station in 1977. She was a homemaker and former president of Women's Auxiliary for East Gary Volunteer Firemen, and volunteered for many organizations including Crippled & Handicapped Children, Adult Basic Education, North Webster Elementary School, Polk Elementary School, North Webster Friends of the Library, Writer's Group of North Webster and Goshen Hospital emergency room department since 1999, logging more than 1,600 hours. She was a volunteer sponsor of CWA Club at Whitko Middle School.
Surviving are six daughters: Laura (and spouse Duey) Thong-Umphai, Pierceton; Beth (and spouse Troy) Horvath, Granger; Lydia Conoway (and Bill Dunbar), Mountainview, Calif.; Cass Bonner, Australia; Cindy (and spouse Joe) Gromala, Kendallville; and Kathe Brooks, Hobart; three sons: Basil (and spouse Kelly) Bonner, Georgia; Pete (and spouse Kristin) Bonner, Leesburg; and Kim (and spouse Carolyn) Bonner, Hobart; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters: Betty Urbanik, Hobart; Gloria Rhueman, Columbia City; Wanda Viars, Lafayette; and Mary Dunn, Portage; and three brothers, Jack Johns, Valparaiso; Gene Pavlik, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Bob Pavlik, Lake Station.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with the Rev. Christine Newman-Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Mock Addition of North Webster Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
