SOUTH BEND – Nancy R. Goheen Munger, 74, South Bend, passed away at 10 a.m. Sept. 18, 2013, in her residence after a courageous battle against cancer with her loving family at her bedside.
She was born April 17, 1939, in South Bend, to Russell L. and M. Jeanne Conklin Goheen. On Jan. 23, 2008, in Hamilton, Ala., she married Harold Wesley Munger, who survives.
She retired as postmaster in Milford in 1999 after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service. She was an avid reader and always had a book in her hand. She loved her cats and dogs. She was a devoted Notre Dame fan and cherished her Notre Dame memorabilia room. She even traveled to Ireland to see Notre Dame beat Navy in The Dublin Shamrock Classic in 1996. She enjoyed all music with her favorites being folk, country western, ’50s, ’60s and classical. She especially loved the Everly Brothers. She was a proficient piano player and loved playing for her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling and her late night Yahtzee games with her husband. Her favorite flowers were roses and carnations.
Also surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth (and spouse Bob) Miller, South Bend, and Amy (and spouse Tim) Reeser, Danvers, Ill.; three sons: Daniel Pulaski, Niles, Mich.; Jeffrey (and spouse Lynn) Pulaski, South Bend; and Rick Pulaski, Mishawaka; two stepdaughters, Lynn (and spouse Tim) Akey and Dana (and spouse Randy) Neilson, all of Niles, Mich.; three step-sons: Tim (and spouse Meredith) Kurzhal, Victoria Minn.; Mark Munger, Galien, Mich.; and Eric (and spouse Melina) Munger, Vancouver, Wash.; one brother, John (and spouse Deon) Goheen, La Verkin, Utah; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Mark Pulaski, in 1958, and one sister, Christine Wise, on Aug. 13, 2013.
A memorial luncheon in celebration of her life will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at American Legion Post 357, 5414 W. Sample St., South Bend.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
The Hanley & Sons “Southwest Chapel” Funeral Home, South Bend, handled arrangements.
