NORTH MANCHESTER - Nancy Konkle, 71, of Warsaw, died at 11:05 p.m. Oct. 12, 2008, in Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw.

She was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to the Rev. Reuben Sr. and Velia L. Jenkins Whitaker.

She retired from Creighton Brothers, Warsaw, in 2002, after 18 years of service. She attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and camping with her companion.

Surviving are a companion, Ray Fenix, Warsaw; two sons, Howard Eugene Konkle, Bourbon, and Harold Edward Konkle, Palestine; three brothers: Grover Whitaker, Pierceton; Paul Whitaker, Ellijay, Ga.; and Charlie Whitaker, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four sisters: Fanny (and spouse Smith) Helton, Sidney; Margaret (and spouse Charles) Anderson and Hazel (and spouse Mike) Overcash, all of Moorseville, N.C.; and Bethel Bradford, Leesburg, Fla.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
