LIGONIER - N. Joan Doll, 87, of Cromwell, passed away Dec. 5, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.

She was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Cromwell, to Ben and Annabelle Kring Archer. On June 20, 1942, she married Herman "Mike" Doll, who died Oct. 2, 1992.

She worked at Wirk Garment, Cromwell, and Lyal Electric, Ligonier. She was a dedicated stay-at-home mother and farmer's wife most of her married life. She worked in the West Noble School cafeteria for 20 years before retiring. She was a past member of the Women's Civic Club, Ligonier, and the Young at Heart Line Dancers and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. In her spare time she loved to read, listen to music and play the organ. Most of all, she was proud of being a great cook.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol L. Rhoads, Plant City, Fla.; a son, Michael H. (and spouse Linda) Doll, North Webster; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Levi and Dallas Archer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, with Pastors Harlan Steffen and Jean Ness officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
