Motorcyclist Killed After Hitting Semi

A motorcycle-semitrailer accident that closed U.S. 30E for 1-1/2 hours Wednesday night left a Leesburg man dead. Jason L. Rodgers, 32, of 3845 E. Lakeview Trail, Leesburg, died after driving his motorcycle into the back of the semitrailer at 11:22 p.m.
Rodgers was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30, between Springhill Road and Parker Street in Warsaw, without a helmet, when he hit the semi. Witnesses say Rodgers was driving at high speeds and weaving in and out of traffic prior to the accident.
The semi continued driving east down U.S. 30 after the collision. Police believe the driver is unaware of the accident and witnesses were not able to identify the vehicle's model, color or plate number.
Rodgers was transported by Multi-Township EMS to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, where he was pronounced dead.
The Warsaw Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
