Mother of Six Loses Home to Fire

The home suffered major damage and was deemed a total loss. The house fire, which occurred at 8031 Thomas Drive in Claypool, displaced a single mother and her six children who are under the age of 8.
When the Sidney Fire Department responded to the fire they were met at the house by Noe Ybarra, 27, Claypool. Ybarra was resistant and the Claypool Police Department and Indiana State Police were called to detain Ybarra. Ybarra was arested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for refusal to submit to chemical testing. His bond was $550.
Silver Lake Fire Department, Claypool Fire Department, LifeMed EMS and Chester Township of Wabash County assisted at the scene.
The Red Cross helped replace lost clothing, food, and other basic needs.
“Whether big or small, disasters have a life-changing effect on our clients. The majority of the assistance we provide goes to local families experiencing such events, fulfilling immediate needs in their first steps toward recovery,” said Kimberly Stout, American Red Cross Emergency Services director.
