SYRACUSE – Morris E. “Morrie” Speicher, 85, of Leesburg, passed away Feb. 2, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Urbana, to Harold and Mona Devers Speicher. He married Anne Mahaney, who survives.

He lived at Tippecanoe Lake since 1988, coming from Wabash. He graduated from Urbana High School in 1945 then went to Naperville (Ill.) College. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired as secretary treasurer for Cyclone Manufacturing after 50 years of service. He was a life member of the Wabash and North Webster American Legions; and a member of Wabash Elks 471, where he formerly served as trustee; Urbana Lions Club; Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine; and a member and past director of the Wabash Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and spending time on the lake.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pam Speicher-Urshel, Wylie, Texas, and Gayle Manby, Wabash; a son, Jeff (and spouse Jennifer) Speicher, Wylie; three grandchildren, Jeff Urshel and Rachel and Matthew Speicher; and a brother, Daniel (and spouse Barbara) Speicher, Leesburg. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Speicher Cemetery, Urbana, and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse.

Calling is from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
