Morals

I want to talk about morals; people who do the right thing because they want to, not because they are forced to. Child support and visitation is all about morals. So it is only fitting that I write about it.
Last week as we were leaving the doctor's office, my 4-year-old stopped me. He said, "Mom, I forgot to give this toy back."
It was a little plastic Army guy. I never would have noticed. But Caleb gave it back instead of keeping it for himself because he knew it was the right thing to do. Did I mention he's only 4?
About five years ago, I thought I might need a lawyer for my case. I called probably 10 law firms. Only one had free consultations, Lavender and Bauer.
When I hear people talk about lawyers the words greedy and dishonest always come up. But Mr. Bauer was neither. Over the years I have had simple legal questions. I called other law firms and they all wanted me to come in for a consultation, which would cost $75-$125. I didn't need a consultation, just a quick answer. So I called Lavender and Bauer again. The nice lady on the phone answered my question in about two minutes. Yes, a law firm that is neither greedy nor dishonest.
Recently, I received a letter of support from a man in prison. I wrote back to him asking the same thing I ask everyone. If possible, please get 10 signatures. Within a matter of days he sent me 42. He ran out of room on the form. He didn't have to do this. He wanted to help. Thank you to Jason and all the other men for caring about what I am trying to do.
Morals can be found in anyone, whether it's in a 4-year-old, a law firm or inmates. The problem is too many parents today lack morals. If all parents had good morals, we wouldn't need the courts to step in. We wouldn't need a Child Support Enforcement division. There re would be no "deadbeat" or money-hungry parents. Visitation problems would be nonexistent for either side. Parents wouldn't worry if their kids will come home safely. Children would always be taken care of by both parents.
Child support and visitation is about morals. Quite obviously some parents don't have them and don't want them. We need to do something about this because our children learn what they see in us.
I need your help to make my petition work. Write to me by mail at 4818 S. Scott Rd, Claypool, IN 46510 or by e-mail at [email protected] You can also join the Facebook group Fix the System: Child Support/Visitation Petition.
