She was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Warsaw, to Emanuel L. and Opal Dunkleberger Young. On April 5, 1947, she married Gerald "Bus" Sumpter, who died Dec. 15, 2002.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she retired from Dr. Matt Datsman's office and worked part time at the Senior Service Center and Kosciusko County Trustees Office. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Ladies Guild, Women's Community Bible Study and the American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, Terry Sumpter, Manila, Philippines; a brother, Emanuel Young, Warsaw; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister, two brothers and a great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
