Hi, my name is Emily Zartman. I would like to thank the Times-Union and Mr. Dan Riordan for all of your efforts in helping our community combat its meth problem.

Thank you to the mothers who are stepping up and putting themselves out there, to help others who are suffering the pain of their loved ones' addiction. I feel what they are doing is a heroic act; it cannot be easy to admit your child has a drug addiction. The fact that they are willing to share that information publicly, in order to help other families in the same situation, is wonderful.

I think the Mothers Against Meth Amphetamine will help a lot of people, our community will benefit greatly from all forms of meth awareness. It is already helping me and my family.

One other thing I would like to see happen, is accepting the addicts back into our community. We can be great role models and set good examples to help guide our recovering addicts who have committed themselves to recovery and paid their debts to society.

My brother, Troy, has been battling addiction for some time now. I want my community to know he is a good person; he has made bad choices and is suffering the consequences. My brother comes from a loving and supportive family; my parents have always wanted the best for their children. They have taught us many life lessons and instilled good values. My brother loves his family deeply and respects us so much, when he is struggling with his addiction he won't even come around us. It hurts us when he drops out of our lives, however; he does that so we don't have to see him during his bad times. I hope Troy can get the right kind of help for his addiction, so we can go back to the way it used to be.

I am excited to be involved with helping my community fight meth; hopefully our legislators will be on board to make pseudoephedrine a prescription only. If we all come together on this we can make great changes for our community and its future.
