Miller's Merry Manor recently made a major investment in Ivy Tech Community College-Warsaw's future as an educational leader in the community.

Miller's Merry Manor President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Boyle said the organization will invest $200,000 in Ivy Tech's capital campaign to raise $2.8 million for land acquisition, equipment and technology for a new campus in Warsaw.

Since the opening of the first Miller's Merry Manor facility in Warsaw in 1964, a significant goal of the Miller family (V. Richard, R. James, Beverly and Barbara) has been to encourage employees to grow professionally. Because of the nation's shortage of professional nurses, the Miller's organization is committed to creating a career ladder for nursing assistants and others who are interested in pursuing a degree in the healthcare field. Over the last 43 years, thousands of employees of the 30 Miller's Medicare-certified rehabilitation centers across the state have earned degrees and certifications in a variety of health-related areas.

"We have a tremendous amount of respect for our employees who juggle full- time jobs, family and school," said Boyle. "Enabling our employees to stay in our county to attend classes at Ivy Tech and further their education is a huge benefit for everyone involved. We at Miller's Merry Manor are grateful to have the opportunity with the Miller family to make this significant donation to Ivy Tech's 'Changing Lives ... Fulfilling Dreams' Capital Campaign."

According to Ivy Tech-Warsaw Executive Dean Randy Maxson, "The amazing generosity of Miller's Merry Manor and the Miller family is yet one more example of the commitment the Warsaw and Kosciusko County communities have to ensuring that Ivy Tech-Warsaw has a permanent home. The many fortunate families who have benefited from the loving care by the staff at Miller's Merry Manor understand how important the services provided by Miller's are. This significant investment in Ivy Tech-Warsaw's future will ensure that residents will continue to receive the highest quality care possible from staff members who have continuing educational opportunities right here in the community."

Ivy Tech has had a presence in the community since the late 1970s, but always in a borrowed or leased space. The lease for the current main facility at 3755 Lake City Highway will end in 2012. The college recently began a capital campaign in response to the community's need for a new, permanent campus in Warsaw.

Ivy Tech has identified a tract of land for purchase and is conducting the necessary soil and site analysis. College officials and community members will pursue securing state funding for the "bricks and mortar" of the new campus. The new campus will serve Kosciusko County and surrounding communities. Current plans are to fold programs at the main campus and the Ivy Tech Orthopedic and Manufacturing Training Center, which opened in October 2006 at 980 Executive Drive, into the new campus.
