MILFORD – Town council recently learned they will have to replace the wastewater treatment plant operator only five months after hiring him.
Mike Clark, who was approved for the position Jan. 13 at a salary of $34,320, resigned effective Friday. Utilities Superintendent Randy Veach said he is not aware of Clark’s stated reason for resigning.
During its meeting Monday, council set an executive session for June 17 at 6 p.m. to discuss the issue. Veach told them he will try to find a temporary replacement operator in the meantime.
Council also set budget workshops for June 23 and 24 at 6 p.m.
Also Monday, council voted to proclaim July as Milford Lions Club Month in honor of the  group’s 70th birthday. Councilman Doug Ruch suggested the honor, saying the club steps forward whenever there’s a need.
And West Street resident Matt Carter told council he cleaned his property after neighbors expressed complaints last month. He said there’s still some work to do, such as taking metal to a scrap shop and having an old couch hauled away, and said he’ll have to stop doing mechanic work at home as a side business.
He told council he has a list of other properties that could stand to be cleaned up.
