SYRACUSE - Mildred L. "Mid" Cotton, 86, of Pierceton, died at 2:46 a.m. Oct. 18, 2008, in Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

She was born Nov. 7, 1921, in North Webster, to Roy A. and Estella Correll Miller. On Jan. 28, 1939, she married Donald C. Adair, who preceded her in death. On April 13, 1991, in Wilmot, she married Eugene Cotton, who survives.

She attended North Webster public school. Living most of her life in Kosciusko, Noble and Whitley counties, she formerly worked at Essex Wire, Ligonier; was a bus driver for Whitley County Schools for three years; Webster Wire for 11 years; was a dietary aide at Whitley County Hospital, Columbia City, for three years; and assisted on the family farm for many years. She was a member of Salem Community Missionary Church, Wilmot, where she was a trustee on the church board for several years; Salem Missionary Ladies Circle; United Methodist Women; American Legion Auxiliary Post 253, North Webster, for 50 years; and was active in Whitley County Homemakers Club for several years.

Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara Lemon and Jo Ellen (and spouse John) Hueber, Columbia City, and Donna (and spouse Jesse) Mead, Monticello, Minn.; two sons, Steven (and spouse Joyce) Adair, Pierceton, and Bentley (and spouse Janet) Adair, Wilmington, N.C.; three stepsons, Ron (and spouse Jo Ann) Cotton and Terry Cotton, all of Warsaw, and Gary (and spouse Becky) Cotton, St. Petersburg, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandsons; 19 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons; and three sisters, Helen Wagoner and Ellen (and spouse Jack) Stump, all of North Webster, and Kathryn (and spouse James) Bartley, Syracuse. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, a stepdaughter, a sister and a brother.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, in Salem Community Missionary Church, Wilmot, with the Revs. Kurt Church, John Morgan and Kevin Whitacre officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.

Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
