SYRACUSE - Mildred J. "Mid" Kirkpatrick Folds, 79, of Syracuse, died at 6:28 a.m. Dec. 6, 2009, in her daughter's residence in Memphis, Tenn.

She was born June 4, 1930, in Syracuse, to Guy and Beulah Castner Bushong.

On Oct. 19, 1952, in Syracuse, she married Fred C. Kirkpatrick, who died in 1984. On April 27, 1985, in Lakeland, Fla., she married the Rev. Joseph B. Folds, who died in 2001.

She lived most of her life in the Kosciusko and Elkhart county areas before moving to Memphis, Tenn., four years ago due to declining health to be with her daughter. She and her late husband wintered for several years in Lakeland, Fla. She graduated from Wakarusa High School and Indiana University, Bloomington. She formerly attended Indian Village United Methodist Church, Cromwell, and was a member of the Psi Iota Psi Social Sorority, Goshen, and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She also had extensive involvement in both men and women's prison ministries in Indiana.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue Kirkpatrick, Goshen, and Kay Kirkpatrick, Memphis; two sons, Mike (and spouse Cara) Kirkpatrick, Eugene, Ore., and Kevin (and spouse Judy) Kirkpatrick, Greenwood; two stepchildren; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; eight step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Duane Ginder officiating. Private burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Calling is one hour prior to service Sunday at the funeral home.
