Mildred "Irene" Kaufman, 89, of 1096 W. Sycamore Drive, Warsaw, died at 11 p.m. Dec. 24, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Kosciusko County, to Carl and Faun Hanson Cauffman. On Sept. 28, 1946, in Warsaw, she married Paul G. Kaufman, who died Nov. 23, 1979.

She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and the owner of Liberty Cafe. She also worked for Osborn Manufacturing before retiring. She was a member of First Christian Church, Warsaw. She was a member of OES 88 and Women of Moose.

Surviving are a grandson, Nicholas Kaufman, Warsaw; a granddaughter, Angela Kaufman, Bern, Switzerland; and a sister, Martha (and spouse Norman) Hankins, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert F. Chinworth, who died 1944, a son Carl Gregory Kaufman, who died in 1988 and a granddaughter, Tammy Kaufman who died in 1987.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Gary Boshcain officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.

Calling is one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel Tuesday.
