Metzger's Values

I could not believe Tom Metzger's response on May 7 about our Hypocrisy Society.

Tom said he was "really dorked" when an overzealous mother turned in Seth Allen for underage drinking at the cage fight at the Wagon Wheel. I am kind of "really dorked" that you are supporting this teen in breaking the law. I commend that mother for doing the right thing. You say the same moms that cheer a 19-year-old to go to war are the same moms who "get all twisted" if a teen sneaks a brew. A mother should be proud if her child chooses to serve our country, and a mother should "get all twisted" about underage drinking.

According to Tuesday's paper, Seth Allen was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor and battery of a law enforcement officer. Maybe poor Seth would not have all these charges against him if he had not been drinking, which clearly clouded his judgement.

Tom, are you saying that you are okay with underage drinking? I wonder if Seth was planning on driving home that night. I am perfectly happy that he got a free ride courtesy of Warsaw Police Dept. It may have even saved a life.

I love the Wagon Wheel Theatre, and I am a Director Club subscriber. It pains me to see cage fighting at the Wagon Wheel. I know the theatre is in financial need, and leasing the building helps that, but there must be a better way to save this local gem. Enhance your summer by supporting the theater.
