Allen and Ann Metheny, Bourbon, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday.
Allen and the former Ann Watkins were married Aug. 16, 1964, at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Bourbon, by the Rev. Pritchard.
Ann, a graduate of Bourbon High School, and Allen a graduate of Tippecanoe High School, married shortly out of high school when they took up family farming. After 10 years in successful farming, the couple opened up a family-owned radio communications business. During this time they volunteered with 4-H and were active with various other activities within the area.
Ann was an avid trail rider, and active with various groups playing banjo, clarinet and saxophone. Allen played both basketball and volleyball in the Bourbon community.
The Methenys retired in 2001, and Ann continues her love of music participating in Sentimental Journey and Highland County concert bands.
 Allen enjoys woodworking.
You can often spot them together enjoying a bicycle ride on their recumbent bikes somewhere throughout Marshall County.
The couple have one son, Eric (and spouse Marsha) Metheny, an electrical engineer employed with the Eaton Corp., Coldwater, Mich. They have a grandson, Vince Metheny, Fort Wayne, and a granddaughter in Coldwater.
An anniversary celebration will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Machette Center, Bourbon. All are welcome. The couple request your presence, not your presents.
Congratulations can be sent to them at 15161 Ind. 331, Bourbon, IN 46504.[[In-content Ad]]
