A Rochester man was arrested Wednesday after the members of the Mentone Youth League board alleged he stole nearly $50,000 from the organization.
According to a Mentone Police Department release, officers were approached in September by board members who claimed they reviewed their bank statements and felt money had been inappropriately spent from their account for personal items not related to the youth league, in the amount of approximately $50,000.
After an investigation, Michael G. Fincher, 33, Rochester, was arrested and charged with five class D felony counts of theft.
During the time of the alleged theft, Fincher was serving as youth league treasurer. The league told police they plan to do an independent audit of their account to get a more accurate dollar amount in order to ask the courts for restitution.
Fincher was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail and held on a $2,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
