Luckily for Winona Corp., 601 S. Franklin St., remonstrators realized the annexation wasn’t for the property they thought it was and left.
Winona Corp. wants the town to annex one acre of ground to the south of the company’s current property.
The two women who came to speak against it thought the town wanted to annex property across the street from the business. One woman indicated she wanted agricultural land to stay agriculture.
Since the two remonstrators left and no representative of Winona Corp. appeared before the board, the council waited for about half an hour and called the annexation hearing adjourned.
Town attorney Larry Beeson said the next step in the annexation procedure was for the town to adopt an ordinance at its next meeting. That meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5.[[In-content Ad]]
