It has been two months since the Menards project in Warsaw began, and company officials say the project is on schedule.

The project began June 30 with site grading by McConnell Excavating where Menards will be located along Husky Trail and Patterson Road in Warsaw.

The building construction was started by general contractor Visser Brother Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich., who began work Aug. 4.

The company started the sanitary sewer and storm sewer construction with the building's steel structure being erected the beginning of last week.

The project will include right of way and public work improvements, on-site utilities, pavement and building work. There will be a parking lot with 441 spaces next to the building.

"We are on schedule and everything is going smoothly. We couldn't be more pleased with how everything is going," said Jeff Abbott, Menards company spokesperson.

Abbott said work will continue until the store opens in spring 2009.

He said drivers should expect frequent road closures at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Parker Street and Husky Trail and Patterson Road.

Road improvements include the current Husky Trail/Patterson Road that will be relocated approximately 300 feet to the east, allowing for better traffic flow onto U.S. 30.

In January 2007, Warsaw City Council approved a request by Menards Inc. to rezone approximately 21 acres from residential to commercial for Menards.[[In-content Ad]]
