Memorial Service Planned For Polston At High School

The service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Warsaw Community High School.
Polston, a 26-year veteran of the Warsaw Police Dept., succumbed to a six-year battle with lung cancer Tuesday. He taught DARE in the Warsaw Community School system for 16 years.[[In-content Ad]]The memorial service will be in the WCHS Tiger Den, and it will be a celebration of Polston's life. Public entry into the Tiger Den will be through the Performing Arts Center doors.
At 1:30 p.m. Sunday, a silent procession of emergency vehicles will travel from the WPD to WCHS. The procession will travel south on Harrison Street from Fort Wayne Street, west on Center Street to Buffalo Street, then south on Buffalo Street to the high school. The public is encouraged to come out and show its support for "OP," as Polston was best known, and his family.
Emergency vehicles wanting to participate in the silent procession should meet at the WPD before 1 p.m.
The public also can visit a memorial for Polston set up at the WPD. Anyone is able to leave cards, flowers or mementos on or around Polston's police van. In honor and memory of Polston, the police department retired his police van and the public is able to write personal messages to him directly on the van. The memorial will remain open 24 hours a day until Sunday morning.
Polston requested no viewing or funeral service. The family has asked that no flowers be sent, but contributions in the name of Terry Polston Memorial Fund can be sent to the Kosciusko County Foundation, 120 E. Market St., Warsaw, IN 46580; or to the WPD DARE program by sending contributions made out to the City of Warsaw, DARE Fund, P.O. Box 1297, Warsaw, IN 46581-1297.
WCHS is at 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw. It is on the west side of Ind. 15 on the south side of Warsaw.
WPD is at 2191 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw. Its at the northeast corner of Harrison and Fort Wayne streets in Warsaw.
