Memorial Day Events Set

Kosciusko County Memorial Day events for  Monday have been announced.
American Legion Post 49, Warsaw, has planned its annual Memorial Day ceremony Monday at Oakwood Cemetery.
Music begins at 10:30 a.m. with a performance by the Kosciusko County Extension Choir.
Colors will be posted by the combined Honor Guards of Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 126 at 10:55 a.m.
Former Post 49 Commander Bruce Knouff will provide a welcome.
Chaplain Tom Everett will provide an invocation.
Knouff will introduce guest speaker Rev. Roy C. Blake.
Post 49 Adjutant Mike Davis will speak, as well as VFW Post 1126 Quarter Master Larry Criswell.
A flag-folding ceremony will be conducted by Dick Dobbins and Everett.
Closing comments will be by Knouff. Benediction will be by Everett.
A carry-in luncheon will follow at noon at Post 49.
Pierceton
Pierceton American Legion Post 258 will sponsor a Memorial parade beginning at 10:45 a.m. from Pierceton Elementary School to Browser Park Monday where a short ceremony takes place with guest speaker Lewis Collier and the honor guard salute.
For Legion members, a carry-in dinner is at 12:30 p.m. and installation of officers is at 2 p.m.
Leesburg
A Memorial Day parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Leesburg, beginning on Van Buren Street and continuing on Jefferson and Prairie streets, ending at Leesburg Cemetery. A Memorial Day service will follow the parade.
North Webster
In North Webster, a service will be at Thorn Cemetery at 9 a.m. Monday, Salem Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., Mock Cemetery at 10 a.m.
Post 253 will have a ceremony at 10:45 a.m., a parade will be in downtown North Webster at 10:45 a.m. and a service will be at North Webster Cemetery at 11 a.m.
Syracuse
Syracuse American Legion Post 223 will host a Memorial Day parade with line up at noon on Boston Street at Syracuse Elementary School.
The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Medusa Street and will stop at the bridge on Huntington Street. A wreath will be thrown in the Turkey Creek to remember fallen soldiers.
A ceremony will follow the parade at Syracuse Cemetery when names of local veterans who have passed away this year will be read.
Milford
A parade will start at 10 a.m. on Emeline Street and run to Main Street. A service will follow at the town’s cemetery from the Milford American Legion. A chicken barbecue will follow at the town’s community building.[[In-content Ad]]
