Memorial Day Ceremonies Planned Thoughout County

Following is a listing of the ceremonies:
The annual Memorial Day Services as conducted by American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, both of Warsaw, will be at Oakwood Cemetery Monday.
The color guard, firing squad and other organizational units will form a line in front of the cemetery sexton's office and begin marching to the amphitheater at 10:55 a.m.[[In-content Ad]]A program will be at the cemetery bandstand.
Warsaw Community High School band will perform special music at 10:15 a.m., the combined color guards will post the colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, and welcome by Commander David Sisk.
There will be an invocation by Tom Everett, American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126 chaplain, and a Memorial Day address by former Post 49 Commander David Beall.
Post 49 Adjutant Mike Davis and Quarter Master VFW Post 1126 Larry Criswell will conduct a roll call of deceased veterans.
A flag retirement ceremony will be conducted by Dick Dobbins and Everett.
After the colors have been retired, the program will proceed to Gar Circle and Legion Circle Number 2 where a simultaneous presentation of wreaths will be made by Sisk and First Vice President Kelley Brubaker.
Taps will follow the presentations.
The program will then conclude at Legion Circle Number 1 where a wreath presentation and Taps will take place. A carry-in will follow the program at Post 49.
North Webster American Legion Post 253 has planned Memorial Day ceremonies Monday at Thorn Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.; Salem Cemetery at 9:45 a.m.; Mock Cemetery at 10 a.m.; Post 253 at 10:30 a.m.; and a parade in downtown North Webster at 10:45 a.m. A ceremony also will be at North Webster Cemetery at 11 a.m.
At the Claypool Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, a Memorial Day ceremony is planned. Guest speaker is Larry Peppel, retired Kosciusko Red Cross director and veteran. In case of rain, the ceremony will be at Claypool United Methodist Church.
Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, a Memorial Day ceremony will be sponsored by Silver Lake Lions Club.
Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Mentone Cemetery, there will be a Memorial Day Service. In case of rain, services will be at the Mentone Youth League Building.
Pierceton American Legion Post 258 is sponsoring a Memorial Day Parade Monday at 11 a.m. Parade lineup will be at Pierceton Elementary and will go to Brower Park. A carry-in dinner will be at the Legion at 1 p.m. and installation of officers is at 2 p.m.
The Leesburg community will have a Memorial Day Parade and Service Monday. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and all participants are asked to be in place by 10:15 a.m. The parade will go to Leesburg Cemetery where a service will be held to honor those who have served. This event is held annually and all veterans, children, businesses and community organizations are invited to participate.
