Melva Blue Jr., 91, of Warsaw, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Oct. 14, 2012, in his residence.

He was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Jasper County, to Melva Sr. and Bessie May Montague Blue. On Nov. 9, 1940, he married Mary Ellen Ott, who survives.

A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he started working at Warsaw Foundries Feb. 8, 1946, and retired as the superintendent April 1, 1987, after 41 years of service. He also co-owned and operated Service Liquor Store and Den-Nella Pizza for many years. He was an avid bowler, having been selected as a Hall of Fame Bowler. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was a devoted family man, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years; a son, Dennis (and spouse Sue) Blue, Polk City, Fla.; a daughter, Paula Devenney, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Tracey (and spouse Kerry) Rose and Stacey (and spouse Joseph) Stanley, all of Warsaw; Douglas (and spouse Rae Ann) Blue, Orange, Calif.; and Thomas Devenney, Chicago, Ill.; and six great-grandchildren: Austin and Sydney Rose; Travis and Payton Blue; Makyla Devenney; and Madyson Stanley. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mathew Devenney; a son-in-law, James Devenney; two brothers; and a sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Larry Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
