COLUMBIA CITY - Melinda K. Coffelt, 41, of rural Columbia City, died at 1:34 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she had been admitted on Sunday.

She was born Jan. 17, 1968, in Warsaw, to John D. and Willodean Windle Snyder. On June 9, 2007, she married Eugene T. Coffelt Jr., who survives.

She attended Jefferson Elementary, Winona Lake, and graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1986. She lived in Silver Lake, moving to rural Columbia City in 2008. She worked at Sailrite Enterprises, Noble County, and formerly worked at Dana, Syracuse.

Also surviving are a daughter, Bethany McClure; a step-daughter, Amber DeNio; two stepsons, Cory and Dustin Coffelt; her parents, John Snyder, Leesburg, and Willodean Smith, Laurens, S.C.; a brother, John A. (and spouse Reisa) Snyder, Winona Lake; a sister, Michelle Snyder (and Doug Kopis), South Whitley; and three step-grandchildren.

Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with Pastor Cindy Gackenheimer officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
