Medical Expenses

Editor, Times-Union:
I read the letter from the young man whose girlfriend suffered serious pain and was hospitalized, which led to $26,000 in medical expenses.
The only thing I can think of to tell him is perhaps call some of your local and federal elected officials, asking if there are any programs which can help alleviate the burden of such high debts.
The next thing I can think of is to ask the people of northern Indiana; while I know the states and federal governments cause all of us tremendous financial pain with so much of their reckless spending, as well as the mounting federal deficits; please, if any number of people reading this letter (as well as having read the young man’s letter about his girlfriend’s predicament) have a few dollars to spare, perhaps someone at an area business or a bank could set up a trust fund so as to help this young woman. Sometimes, the best way to get past some hurts of our own is to reach out a hand to aid someone else whose situation is a little worse off than we are. I do believe God will bless those who come to the aid of their sister or brother who is sorely in need.
To some it may appear to be asking a lot; but in helping someone in need, perhaps we can find a remedy for a problem any single one of us might be facing. May God bless this young couple, as well as bless those who come to the aid of this dear lady.
