McCain/Palin

Editor, Times-Union:

In response to Mrs. Collins' letter to the editor printed in the Sept. 16 issue of the Times-Union, I truly am dismayed at some of the outright untruths that were spread about John McCain and his very capable running mate Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin has more than enough experience to perform the tasks of vice president. As governor of Alaska, she has served an executive position. She has made her motives clear by supporting families and the people of Alaska. It is untrue that she cut spending for families of children with special needs. She also is doing the best that she can to protect her children and not thrust them into the spotlight. She is also ready and willing to allow Americans access to oil and natural gas located within Alaska. We need to start using domestic oil and gas and then also work on better biofuels.

Not all Republicans are alike, and not all of Bush's policies will be followed by John McCain. John McCain has served our country and did so proudly. He protected our country and our interests in his service. He was injured many times during his military service and never gave up. That is the type of determination that we need in a president. We need strength to stand up through adversity.
