Why do you want to serve as the mayor of Warsaw?

I want to continue to be a part of city government that fosters the greater Warsaw area to be a community that our young people can stay or return to pursue their career and family ambitions. By promoting our business climate and quality of life, I want to ensure our future generations are given the opportunity to call Warsaw their home of choice and be proud of it.

What is the most important goal you wanted to see accomplished that has yet to be achieved?

Enhancement of our infrastructure needs to provide a climate for economic development and job retention and creation. We are competing with cities and towns across the country to protect our most valuable asset, our people.

What will be your top three priorities during your next term, and how do you plan to meet those priorities?

A: Construction of a second sewage treatment plant. We will continue to pursue funding options and start the engineering design of the plant next year.

B: Relocation of the police and city government offices to meet present and future needs for increased space. We are currently looking at a potential site for relocation and will look at costs associated with this move.

C: Maintain a stable property tax rate by promoting economic development and controlled growth of our tax base. Cities and communities that do not provide a climate for its existing business and industry to prosper are subject to stagnation and a deterioration of its quality of life.

Why do you want to serve as the clerk-treasurer of Warsaw?

When I ran for clerk-treasurer 16 years ago, I was highly influenced by my friend and mayor, Mike Hodges, and by my uncle, County Commissioner Fred Gilliam. These people truly enjoyed helping Warsaw and Kosciusko County. Through these last 16 years, I have found myself enjoying all the things that these two people said I would. Public service is a very rewarding experience and that is why I am seeking the office of clerk-treasurer for the City of Warsaw.

What is the most important goal you wanted to see accomplished that has yet to be achieved?

My primary goal is to continue to strive for excellence in the performance of my duties and service to the public.

What will be your top three priorities during your next term, and how do you plan to meet those priorities?

A: I will look for new avenues in the investment funds so as to reach the highest and safest return on the dollar. This will provide for additional revenues to offset and help the city maintain a low tax rate.

B: With positive growth of any city, there is growth in the number of city employees. I would like to see the city investigate a human resource professional, who would bring an understanding of the applicable laws, which will only protect the interests of the public.

C: Continue to maintain all financial records in a responsible manner. [[In-content Ad]]
