NAPPANEE - Maxine M. Sanders, 87, formerly of Main Street Suites, Nappanee, died at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 21, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth, after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Elkhart, to Max and Mary Blaker Ott. On Dec. 27, 1939, in St. Joseph, Mich., she married David A. Mann, who preceded her in death. On July 29, 1960, she married Clarence Eugene Sanders, who died in 1994.

Living in Nappanee since 2005, she formerly lived in Elkhart and Batesville, Alaska. She was a retired factory worker, a former grocery clerk in St. Joseph and a caregiver for the elderly in Batesville. She attended Grace Point Presbyterian Church, Nappanee, and formerly attended Methodist Church, Batesville.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (and spouse Michael) Walters, Nappanee; a son, Roger (and spouse Eldora) Mann, Plymouth; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Terry Tyler officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.

Calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
