NORTH MANCHESTER - Maxine Kiser, 89, of North Manchester, died at 8:05 a.m. Dec. 12, 2009, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Converse, to Elzworth and Nancy Jane Knotts Weimer. On April 9, 1939, she married Walter E. Kiser, who died March 17, 1997.

She worked at Heckman Bindery and Manchester Veterinary Clinic and retired in 2000 after 28 years as a secretary for the libraries at Laketon and Manchester Elementary Schools. She was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake. She was a 1938 graduate of Somerset High School and a former member of the Jolly Janes Home-Ec Club.

Surviving are three sons: Phillip (and spouse Patti) Kiser, Provo, Utah; Stephen (and spouse Trish) Kiser, Baltimore, Md.; and Patrick Kiser, Indianapolis; a daughter, Rebecca (and spouse Ken) Vanderpool, Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and four sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Andrew Sampson and Haley Brandenburg officiating. Burial will be in Mississinewa Cemetery, Somerset.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
