He was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Mentone, to Frederick Ada Bradley Grubbs. On Feb. 15, 1975, in Rochester, he married Glacie Mooney, who died April 25, 2009.
He entered the U.S. Navy Jan. 3, 1952, in Indianapolis, serving during the Korean War on the USS Malabar. ENFN Max Junior Grubbs was honorably discharged Dec. 16, 1955, from the U.S. Naval Receiving Station, Brooklyn, N.Y. Living most of his life in the Warsaw area, he retired from Uniroyal, and was a member of Victory Christian Church, both in Warsaw.
Surviving are a daughter, Lori Ann (and spouse Robert) Shaw, Indianapolis; two stepsons, James (and spouse Jovita) Lewis, Goshen, and John (and spouse Londa) Lewis, Mentone; a stepdaughter, Edna Pauline Bryie, Mishawaka; a brother, Leslie (and spouse Doris) Grubbs, Bourbon; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey, Harry, George and Jesse Grubbs; and four sisters: Bernice Merica, Fawn Holloway, Fern White and Dolly Baxter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Chad Burkhart of Victory Christian Church, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
