Max Eldon Fribley, 85, Warsaw, died at 9:12 a.m. Sept. 23, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Etna Green, to Harley and Ruth Bailey Fribley. On May 30, 1947, in Plymouth, he married Barbara Snyder, who survives in Warsaw.

An Etna Green native, he also lived in North Webster and Hoffman Lake until moving to Warsaw in 1947. He worked for Ethan Kaufman Gas Station and for Cover All Rental, Warsaw. He was district manager for the last five years before retiring in January 1986. He was a volunteer of the genealogy section of the Historical Society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in France, Germany and Austria. He liked to restore old cars and won the State Dairy Cow Judging Competition while in high school.

Also surviving are a daughter, Susan (and spouse Don) Plank, Silver Lake; two sons, Fred Fribley and Scott (and spouse Wendy) Fribley, all of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, with Chaplain Tom Everett officiating and with military rites by Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1126.
