He was born June 8, 1925, in Roann, to Dewey and Iva Hoppas Rhoades. In 1946, he married Marjorie L. Rowland, who died in 1954. On Nov. 11, 1955, he married Elizabeth Darlene "Betty" Kline, who survives.
He was an auto technician at Sorg Dodge, Goshen, retiring in 1989. He was a Silver Lake High School graduate and a World War II Navy veteran.
Also surviving are two sons, Malcolm (and spouse Sue) Rhoades, New Castle, and Rick Rhoades, Goshen; three brothers: Arden (and spouse Mary) Rhoades, Warsaw; Phillip (and spouse Cheryl) Rhoades, Goshen; and Eddie (and spouse Sharon) Rhoades, Oelwein, Iowa; four sisters: Wanda Hoover and Melba (and spouse Robert) Flieschauer, all of LaGrange; Norma (and spouse Merl) Tethrake, Milford; and Donna (and spouse Keith) Troup, Goshen; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
A private graveside service will be at a later date. Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
