He was born Dec. 28, 1939, in Warsaw, to Donald G. and Mildred Keirn Bolinger. On July 23, 1966, in South Bend, he married Shirley Norton, who survives.
He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1958; attended Manchester College from 1958-60; and earned a bachelor's degree from Grace College in 1962, and a master's degree from Saint Francis College in 1970.
He taught math for 33 years in the following schools: Whiteman Junior High, Goshen, from 1962-66; Towncrest Junior High, Goshen, from 1966-71; Bluffton High School from 1971-78; and Warsaw Community High School from 1978 until retiring in 1995.
He was assistant coach at Goshen High School from 1965-71; head coach at Bluffton High School from 1971-78; and Warsaw High School from 1978-81; and assistant coach at Manchester College from 1982-90.
He was a member of American Legion Post 253, Sons of the American Legion and Indiana Football Coaches Association.
Also surviving a daughter, Jane Turecky, Morrisville, N.C.; a son, Brad (and spouse Beth) Bolinger, Cicero; four grandchildren: Nick, Tyler and Luke Turecky, Morrisville, and Brooke Bolinger, Cicero; and a brother, David Bolinger, Spartanburg, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
