NORTH MANCHESTER - Maudie E. Stoops, 89, of North Manchester, died at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 12, 2009, in his residence.

She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Wooster, Ohio, to Russell Arthur Sr. and Emma Myers Grindle. On April 23, 1938, she married Paul N. Stoops, who died June 23, 1993.

She worked at Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, for 12 years; Tri-Wic, North Manchester, for 20 years; and was a cook at Manchester Junior High School until retirement. She was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester. She was a 1938 Chester High School graduate; a member of Psi Iota Xi; and was the area coordinator for Cheer Inc. for 22 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Saundra Classick, Westfield, and Barbara Schannep, North Manchester; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
