'Mary Poppins' Flying Into Wagon Wheel

By Staff Report-

Everyone knows when Mary Poppins’ job is done she disappears.
The magical nanny is scheduled to be in Warsaw Wednesday through June 14 only at the Wagon Wheel Theatre. However, tickets are vanishing just as quickly as Mary Poppins herself, according to a press release from the WWT.
The theater reports two shows are completely sold out and the remaining nine are filling up.
The beloved story is based on the P.L. Travers’ book, which sparked the Academy Award-winning Disney film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
The Broadway musical won two Tony Awards and the professional Wagon Wheel Theatre production is sure to delight audiences of all ages, the release states. “Mary Poppins” soared on Broadway and upon the completion of the national tour, the show became available to select venues in the United States. The Wagon Wheel Theatre was granted rights late last summer for this Disney regional premiere.
The big question is, “Will Mary Poppins fly?” In 2012, Peter Pan and the Darling children flew on the Wagon Wheel stage, and as Wagon Wheel Theatre Director of Operations Will Dawson said, the “magic” of flying is something people are still talking about.
“It comes up all the time. I think folks were blown away by how realistic the flying appeared. Mary Poppins will fly and I think the audience will believe in her magical ability to ascend above London and frankly all of her abilities to stretch the imagination. It’s really a fun show before you start talking about all the recognizable music,” he said.
The familiar music includes the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack including “ChimChim Cheree,” “Jolly Holliday,” “Spoonful of Sugar,” “Step in Time,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocius” and more.
“Mary Poppins” is presented by Zimmer and The Wagon Wheel Theatre. Tickets range from $18 to $36.
Discounts are available for college students and on designated performances for seniors.
