She was born Aug. 8, 1919, in White County, to John and Ruth Anderson Callahan. On Sept. 25, 1942, she married Lamoin A. Montel, who died April 1, 1999.
She worked at Peabody Retirement Community, Bryan Manufacturing, Singer Controls Co. and Heckman Bindery, all at North Manchester, and retired from Timbercrest Senior Living Community food service. She was a member of Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, and Ivy Chapter #69 Order of Eastern Star, North Manchester.
Surviving are her son, Gary (and spouse Dee) Montel, North Manchester; a sister, Berdene Azbell, Rochester; two grandchildren, Beth (and spouse Dennis) Beckner, Columbia City, and Barth (and spouse Angie) Montel, Bluffton; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Pastor Dennis Beckner officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
