Mary Louise Lukens Drudge

She was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Wabash County, to Lloyd B. Lukens and Mabel E. Gaerte. On Aug. 18, 1979, at Trinity Methodist Church, Warsaw, she married Richard O. Drudge, who survives in Akron. They shared nearly 30 years together, several of which they wintered in Florida where they made many dear friends.
She lived most of her life in Akron, graduating from Akron High School where she was a cheerleader for the Akron Flyers Basketball team. While raising her daughter, she was a farm wife and also was employed with Yeager Insurance, Warsaw. She had later worked at Union Tool, Warsaw. For the past 10 months she resided at Grace Village Assisted Living where she made many acquaintances. All her life she was an avid reader, most recently with the assistance of books on tape. She loved flowers and liked to plant and garden. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. She attended the Akron United Methodist Church and St. John's United Methodist Church, Sebring, Fla.
Also surviving are three daughters: Patricia (and spouse Richard) Goshert, Warsaw, Diane (and spouse Bud) Zolman, Mishawaka, and Peggy (and spouse Bill) Gilger, Woodstock; a step-daughter, Diane Medlen, Arkansas; two step-sons, Chuck (and spouse Darlene) Drudge, Akron, and Denny (and spouse Cheryl) Drudge, Lafayette; a brother, Donald (and spouse Leone) Lukens, Iowa; two cousins, Mary Ellen and Alice Hunter, both of North Manchester; several nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth May Lukens Ganes; a brother, Harold Lukens; a granddaughter, Jacque Gizzi; and a step granddaughter, Amanda Drudge.
Services were Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Karen Ottjes officiating. Burial was in Roann Community Center.
