She was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Hudson, to Guy and Hildred Clark Shire. On May 20, 1951, she married Garland Leo Saffen, who died Oct. 29, 2007.
Living in Angola since 1971, she retired from Essex Wire.
Surviving are two sons, Mike (and spouse Karen) Saffen, Warsaw, and Steven (and spouse Sandy) Saffen, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Robert Shire, Angola, and Joe Shire, Hudson; a sister, Laura Lee, Hudson; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hudson United Methodist Church with Pastors Ken Ludwig and Don Watkins officiating. Burial will be private.
No calling is planned.
