Mary Helene 'Chippy' Levernier

She was born April 29, 1925, in Warsaw, to Cloyse and Mary Wallace Thomas. On Feb. 12, 1944, at Lake Wawasee she married Daniel Levernier, her husband of 70 years, who survives.
She graduated from Milford High School in 1943, where she was a cheerleader. She was life member of the Syracuse American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Goshen.
She lived most of her life in Milford. She worked as a phone operator out of high school. After marrying she was a stay-at-home mom. She sold Avon and Fuller Brush at different times. In the late ’50s and early ’60s, she and Dan helped start the Milford Saturday night sock hops.
She enjoyed camping, traveling the U.S., Mexico and Europe for many years. She loved to read, sew and knit. She knitted many Christmas stockings and dishrags for family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were all very important and the love of her life. She loved when they came to visit.
Also surviving are four children: Dana (and spouse Doug) Miller and their family: Tracy (and spouse Julie) Miller and Cathy (and spouse Todd) Huffman, all of Bremen; Debra (and spouse David) Mann, Warsaw, and their family: Tyrone (and spouse Mary Ellen) Mann, Colorado, and Monica (and spouse Skip) Prudy, Mississippi; Thomas (and spouse Nancy) Levernier, and their family: Michele Murphy, Jaime (and spouse Mitch) Hollar and Sara (and spouse Jason) Fuller, all of Milford; Timothy (and spouse Trisha) Levernier, Milford, and their family: Jeff Levernier, Bluffton; Brandy (and spouse Jim) Coons, Florida; Heather Hampsta, Lafayette; Destiny Turner, Bremen; and Brady Spencer, Milford; 23 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Casey Miller and Darren Mann.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. Burial is in Milford Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday.
