NORTH MANCHESTER – Mary Elizabeth Young, 93, of North Manchester, died at 8:15 p.m. April 17, 2011, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born March 11, 1918, in Muncie, to J.O. and Lofa Eikenberry Winger. On Oct. 31, 1943, she married the Rev. Lester A. Young, who died July 30, 2003.
She taught English, Latin and Bible and was a play coach at Grass Creek, North Manchester and North Webster schools. She later retired from the business office of Warsaw Community Schools. She was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw, and was active in Church Women United. She graduated from Central High School in 1936 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Manchester College in 1940.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Marie (and spouse  Ed) Sorensen, Warsaw; a sister, Dorotha Fry-Mason,  North Manchester; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Rogers, who died in 2009, and a sister. 
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with the Rev. Joseph M. Mason and Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is two hours prior to the service Wednesday at Timbercrest.
McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
