COLUMBIA CITY – Mary E. Grant, 90, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully with her loving family near her Jan. 25, 2012, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

She was born April 23, 1921, in Columbia City, to Joseph and Bertha Ann Bush Sheets. She married Arthur L. Grant, who preceded her in death.

Raised in Columbia City, she resided in Larwill, Blue Lake, Smith Township, South Whitley, and Indianapolis, with her son, Barry Graves, before returning to Columbia City. She was educated in the Coesse public schools. She worked for nine years as a welder at Ion Capicitor as a beautician at the LaCharm Beauty Shop, and for 10 years as a seamstress at Blue Bell.

Surviving are two sons, Barry A. Graves, Indianapolis, and Murray “Mike” (and spouse Candy) Graves, Claypool; a stepdaughter, Lucratia Ruckman, South Whitley; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Lee; five sisters: Hattie Bridigan, Louella Richey, Hazel Treech, Effa Watson and Rose Hartman; and two brothers, John Wesley and William Buck Sheets.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Pastor Steve Briggs officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
